Sophie Monk Marries Joshua Gross in Lavish Secret Ceremony

Australia’s favourite bachelorette is no longer a bachelorette.

Sophie Monk, a well-known television personality, has married fiance Joshua Gross in an at-home ceremony last month, and the couple has managed to keep things under wraps for weeks.

Sophie, who surprised fans with her engagement announcement in January last year, said it was a no-brainer to keep things private in an exclusive interview with Stellar.

“We always thought we’d elope. “So many people said to me, ‘I didn’t even see my husband on the night; if I had my wedding over, we’d just elope’. So we thought, well, why don’t we just get married at home? I’ve seen people get really stressed about their wedding and ours has been so stress-free.”

The wedding was an intimate at-home dinner with only two guests: Sophie and Josh, to keep things simple.

Sophie said that the absence of relatives and friends wasn’t a big concern.

“I’m 42, so I feel like (our loved ones) are like, OK, do it your way. We figured if we don’t invite one person, then no-one could get upset.”

The lovely yet charmingly down-to-earth actress wore two dresses by Melbourne-based designers J’Aton couture, which she admitted she had not tried on until the day of the e
vent.

“It fit like a glove, it was perfect – it was just how I’d imagined it,” she said of the dress worn during the ceremony.

“We didn’t give them long [to design it], but they’re pros. I sketched it out a couple of weeks ago with my stylist. I wanted to just keep it simple, beautiful and timeless, but still “bride”.

The couple met on a journey from Europe to Australia in August 2018, sharing a mid-air kiss after “three champagnes” in business class, in a meet-cute story fit for a Hollywood script.

Sophie and Josh started to talking, and after sharing a bottle, the reality star summoned the guts to ask him for a kiss, according to the account.

“I was sitting there for a while and I went, ‘Hey, um, are you single?’ And he went, ‘Yeah.’ I went, ‘I don’t ever get to meet people in normal scenarios and, um, can I kiss you?’… I thought, ‘Oh god I’ve got a 10-hour flight with this guy, if he says no I’m in trouble,’”
Sophie laughed.

She even washed her teeth before the kiss, according to news.com.au.

She recounted, “We went to separate bathrooms and brushed our teeth.”
