No Crowds Allowed for Melbourne’s iconic Carols by Candlelight

For the first time in the event ‘s history, Melbourne’s Carols by Candlelight will go ahead without crowds this year.

With the full stage show, the famous event held on Christmas Eve will continue, but viewers will not be able to attend the event, which has become a festive tradition for many families.

Vision Australia had been hopeful of attracting an audience at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, but organisers had to make the regretful decision because of existing public health advice.

“Carols by Candlelight this year will be the full stage show but no audience,” CEO Ron Hooton said.
“So no candles waving in the evening. It’s very sad for us but a necessity we think in the current times.”
People are being encouraged to watch the event at home and wave a candle in front of their TVs.
