A man was arrested yesterday afternoon for multiple suspected sexual offences involving children near Newcastle Baths.
Police attended the Baths on the Shortland Esplanade about 3 pm, after claims that a man at the beach allegedly exposed himself to a group of boys in the changing room area.
A short time later, the man left the baths, and security at the baths called the police.
A 22-year-old man was arrested by the police and taken to Newcastle Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of knowingly performing a sexual act with a child between 10 and 16 years of age, committing a sexual act with another child without consent and wilful and indecent exposure.
He was denied bail to appear today at the Local Court in Newcastle.
