Melburnians will probably be disappointed in planning to take the next phase out of lockdown on October 19 as the rolling 14-day average of the state sits at 10.2 just 10 days out of the move date.
The state will have to report no more than three cases a day before October 19 in order for Victoria to meet the target average of five or less cases a day.
In order to fulfil the five mystery case threshold, no more than two mystery cases will also be allowed over the next 10 days.
Any restrictions would be relaxed regardless of whether Victoria met the goals, flagged by Premier Daniel Andrews, although he did not disclose what would change.
It was expected that the controversial five-kilometre rule will remain in effect, as well as Melbourne ‘s steel ring with regional Victoria.
