Victoria reported 21 new cases of coronavirus and 7 more
deaths on Saturday, the Health and Human Services department confirmed.
The decrease in infections is the lowest daily figure for
the state since June 23 when 18 cases have been reported.
Metropolitan Melbourne’s average daily case number has also decreased to 39.3,
meaning the city is on track for a planned relaxation of restrictions.
Metropolitan Melbourne must, from 28 September, achieve an average daily case rate of between 30
and 50 cases over the preceding fortnight in order to trigger a relaxation of lockdown steps.
In regional Victoria the
daily average is 1.9.
There are 64 cases in Metropolitan Melbourne
of an unknown source and none in regional Victoria.
