A woman’s dog has come to her aid after an intruder in her bedroom in northwest Sydney reportedly tried to strangle her.
The 60-year-old woman had been woken early on Sunday morning by a man in her home in North Parramatta, police report.
The man supposedly assaulted her and attempted to strangle her, until the pet American Pitbull of the woman rushed into the room and charged him.
The man fled to the bathroom and the woman hid.
A 34-year-old man, known to the woman, was arrested by police in Parramatta later Sunday.
He was charged with breaking and going in and attacking with intent to kill.
He was denied bail on Monday to appear in Parramatta Local Court.
